Conference Travel Grants

*** All AIPS Conference Travel Grant applications will now be reviewed on a quarterly basis***

  1. Domestic (up to $1,000, with average awards of $600 reimbursement for conference travel)
  2. International (up to $2,000, with average awards of $1,200 reimbursement for conference travel)

All applications will undergo a competitive review process consistent with the goals and aims of the organization.

Note: AIPS does not have funds to cover travel to international conferences for the FY 2017-18

Eligibility and Criteria:

  • Funding for conference travel for the presentation of papers or organization of panels that include topics relevant to Pakistan Studies at scholarly conferences. (Note: Invited single lectures are not eligible for this award, however, invited conference and workshop presentations are eligible.)
  • No international travel to Pakistan at this time.
  • Non-US Citizens are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Must be an AIPS Individual Member at the time of application
  • Capped to one per person per year
  • Preference to those who have not received a travel grant in the previous two years
  • Ongoing application process

How to Apply: 

  • Applicants should email the AIPS office at to confirm availability of travel funds prior to filling out an application 
  • Follow the instructions provided by AIPS staff

The AIPS Review Committee will make all awarding decisions.

Deadline to apply:

  • Round 1: March 15th
  • Round 2: June 15th
  • Round 3: September 15th (*Note: All applications for travel grants for the Annual Conference on South Asia must be received by September 15th. Applications received after September 15, 2018 will most likely not be reviewed)
  • Round 4: December 15th  

**Note: Application must be received by 11:59PM CST. All applications must be received for future conference and hence future travel. 

Awards for US Citizens are funded through grants from either the Council of American Overseas Research Centers or the US Embassy in Islamabad. Awards for Non-US Citizens are funded by AIPS' unrestricted funds and are pending availability of funds.
